Event Details

Confiscation of property, house arrests, relocation from coastal zones, strict curfews, and internment was something Italian Americans wanted to forget following the end of World War II. Anthony E. La Piana, curator of the historical exhibit “The MOVEMENT” presents historical documents, photographs, and information focusing on this dark chapter in American history. La Piana’s grassroots campaign and Congressional testimony helped push HR 2442, The Italian American War Time Violations Act, signed by former President William J. Clinton which publicly acknowledged the treatment of Italian Americans.
